“What were the Beatles really like? She’s asked this every day. “Very irreverent, very flirty,” she says, “just like my own boys growing up. That John Lennon was a very naughty boy. He preferred men. He was very shy with women, you know, trying to get confidence in himself with that naughty schoolboy humour, that catch-the-girl, kiss-the-girl thing. If you came on as a siren, he’d run a mile.””
Cilla Black, interview in the Telegraph, August, 1997
I hate that the "Gen Alpha can't read." conversation so much because people are taking this as a chance to call children stupid and their parents monsters instead of having a very real discussion about how the education system is flawed by design, covid fucked up everything socialization wise, these parents having little access to child care and more work hours leads them to lean on things like tablets and phones to watch their kids more and more, teachers are more overworked and underpaid than ever leading to them leaving the profession in droves and that's only like the surface level issues. There's a myriad of factors at play here, not just that "The kids are spoiled screen-addicted brats with no imagination and their parents are childish spoiled millennials who just let coco melon handle everything."
neurodivergent people feeling more comfortable living abroad because ~ here i have an excuse for not always: getting & acting according to cultural/social norms; understanding people/cues; relating to people/"universal" experiences; honestly being just a bit off (relative to nt expectations)
~ is that something
absolutely unbearable to be around me while listening to let ‘em in by wings because i WILL be pausing every two seconds to explain all the references to who’s who in the lyrics. how will i cope without explaining that there are like four different references to john in it? no one knows because i have yet to keep my mouth shut.

'Now come the days of the King, and may they be blessed while the thrones of the Valar endure!'
In which John Lennon without glasses is blind as a bat and needs Paul to direct him where to go.
