Dozhinki, the harvest of Jarilo

Between Slavics, they celebrated the harvest of Autumn, which, in ancient times, were dedicated to Jarilo, God of Vegetation, who in Autumn descends in the Underworld.

During this festival the last sheaf of August was decorated with ribbons, symbols, berries and flowers. Besides of the sheaf, they prepared large garlands with bundles of wheat, that will be used during the parade; everything will end with dances, chants, banquets and binge drinkings.

Anciently, the festival was dedicate to the beauty Jarilo, a young God, blinde like wheat and eternally shoeless because where he walked, the earth would regenerate.

The whole mythology which recalls to him is the description of seasonal cycle. Jarilo, son of the God of Thunder Perun, was born the last night of February (anciently was New Year's Eve) and the same day had been kidnapped from the God of Underworld Veles and grew up as his son. During Spring, Jarilo went back to the surface, coming back to life generating vegetation.

During Summer he marries his twin Morana, Goddess of Nature and Death, but in Autumn he is ceremonially killed. Later also Morana dies for the lack of Jarilo, but they both rebirth during Summer Solstice.

Muin

Today starts and will end on 29th september Muin's arboreal month, the vine, then linked to the Vendemmia and - more general - to the autumnal nature. But also the effects of the good wine produce on people: happiness, carelessness, joy but also toxicity, angry and danger.

It rappresents the period between autumn equinox and all of works linked to: working activities, the second harvest, the preparing of the food to store during winter, etc. At large, Muin reppresents the master through which the knowledge comes, the one who make us try hard to gain a higher level of our personal growth.

Aeschylus faces theme like evil, pain and fear that hit men in their intimacy relationships with Deities and society. According to a first conception of evil and pain, they were determined only by Gods' envy, the Hybris (hy-brys), but later they gained a new value, becoming an instrument to educate men to justice, since only through the pain they can ackwonledge deep inside themselves.

The tragic experience is, according to Greeks, internalization of knowledge. Aristotle few times emphasises how the pain leads the men "from no-knowledge to knowledge."

By the way, no one can escape from the face-off of the pain. How Greek widsome teaches us, one must be courageous and accept the involvement in it: what is next is the greatest mystery which we go against.

From the 1th to the 4th August, Zuni tribes (Pueblo) celebrates the abundance of mais harvests with a wild thanksgiving dance, called "Shoko Otiikwe", in honor of Mother Goddess Mais.

朝のバタバタの最中に投稿してしまったので、なんだか素っ気無かったような気がしてしまっています；；
