YouTube Channels For Your Quarantine Workout Needs

YouTube Channels for Your Quarantine Workout Needs

Rebel Wilson had an amazing 2020 despite everything that happened around the world because she made it her year of health, and I’m taking notes from her and transferring that energy to 2021 for myself. I’m planning to get out of this quarantine the hottest I’ve ever been and to then hit the nice gyms around town. While I’m currently unable to do that, I’m utilizing this time to save money and working out free by using different YouTube channels that offer these videos. Below are some of my favorites!

1. Emi Wong

Last year I found out that everyone and their mother were doing Chloe Ting’s workouts like there’s no tomorrow. I naturally had to check out for myself what the rave is all about. Her workouts are great, but for me they’re just a little too hardcore. So, I found an alternative. Emi’s workouts are still challenging, she posts regularly, and her husband’s cameos are quite entertaining. You can find targeted exercises as well as full-body workouts.

2. The Fitness Marshall

You’re having a bad day and you just want to let it all out? Then look no further than to The Fitness Marshall. Caleb and his crew regularly put out hip hop dance workout videos to today’s hit songs. You will sweat and you will laugh, his videos are literally an antidote to any negativity you might be feeling at a particular moment in time. I guarantee that the videos will lift your spirits up!

3. Sweaty Betty Ballet Workouts

I am 100% inspired by @sylth-glow when I looked up ballet workout videos on YouTube. There aren’t that many videos, but the few that exist will make you feel graceful, improve your posture, and tone you up! I love the cohosts and I strive to emulate their fluidity in movements. I’m still far from where I want to be, but at least I’m not where I used to be. Maybe when quarantine’s over I will take adult ballet classes.

4. Popsugar Fitness

I’m linking to just one video, which is arguably my favorite of all, but Popsugar Fitness is to me the IT workout channel on YouTube. You can literally find any and all types of workouts on there. Some of my favorite instructors are Christa DiPaolo (her boxing videos truly kick ass), Nicole Stein (girl’s got moves), and Marnie Alton (she’s very flexible). Check them all out and find some that you love and keep doing them!

5. 375 Dance Studio

As you can already tell, I love to dance and I think that as a society (mostly Western and East or Southeast Asian), we just don’t dance enough! I do their exercises when I want to feel sexy, burn some calories + tone up, and get out of my head. I’m an over thinker (it’s a work in progress!), so being able to move my body more and to have my body take over my brain is a joy for me. I envision myself dancing these sensual Latin dances with a partner in the near future, but for now this will suffice.

Much love!

Rules thread:

(I got bored at work this morning and finally wrote a rule list up. I still have to re-write it in my diet journal when I get home.)

2 liters of water a day

Keep track of water intake

Don't count coffee calories (Starbucks excluded)

1200 calorie limit (absolute max)

No pop

No food past 5 pm

16 hour fast minimum (daily)

100 chews per bite

Water with all meals

Green tea daily

Cranberry juice daily

100 jumping jacks every hour after work

15 squats every bathroom break

150 sit ups before 6 pm

Yoga on Saturdays

Cheat day: Friday (metabolism boost and binge prevention)

-cheat day rules: no calorie counting. No food after 8 pm. Start fast after meal. Work out rules still apply. No pop.

*These are rules I've been using since the very beginning of my eating disorder journey (14 years ago). Some things have been changed due to things not working, and the calorie limit has been super over shot. These are for me only.

I turn 30 next month so here’s what I learned in my 20s:

—don’t work for startups, they’re always one ‘innovative idea’ away adding ‘sell your kidneys on the black market’ to your job description.

—keeping a collection of basic OTC medicine on you will save your life one day. I recommend Advil, Imodium, and TUMS.

—those little single-use glasses cleaning wipes are 1000% worth the money

—overly self-depreciating jokes just make people uncomfortable, wean yourself off of them

—you can buy dehydrated mini marshmallows in bulk online and they’re a godsend for hot cocoa

—people don’t care if you have fidget toys on your desk they just want to play with them

—try to go to bed BEFORE the existential ennui kicks in

So, India is dying.

Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.

If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.

There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.

There is no plan.

Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.

So, India Is Dying.

Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.

So, India Is Dying.

We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.

This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.

We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.

People are dying.

So, India Is Dying.

People are dying.

So, India Is Dying.

People are dying and there is no plan.

So, India Is Dying.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.

My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.

Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.

But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.

She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.

So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.

If you can, donate.

Or spread the word.

Help. Please.

gay shit ive done that i thought was 100% straight before i realized: a biography

tried to explain to my straight friends that girls are just objectively more attractive than guys. like objectively.

and being convinced that they were lying to me when they disagreed and said they were attracted to men

didn’t understand why breakups were such a big deal. “if he doesn’t give you enough attention just leave him.” “well at least now you have more time for yourself!” “well you still have me :)”

avoided watching lingerie or swimsuit commercials and had my eyes glued to the floor in locker rooms because obviously i’m not gay. like look at how not gay i am

“yeah sometimes i want people to look at me and wonder wtf i am”

got happy chemicals when people thought i was with my female friend

thought that bi girls and lesbians were the coolest fuckin people ever

female characters who didn’t want a relationship with a man and had their own independent storylines were my favorites

stopped watching shows if the characters randomly got paired up in het relationships

got super excited “for no reason” whenever i read a book with gay rep

“i want to look goth and lethal and have a sword but i also want to be a fairy and look like the embodiment of a claire’s store”

“i wish i was a boy because girls are so pretty and i don’t want to have to be with a boy”

never wanted to get married or have kids

felt super uncomfortable whenever a man would show any interest in me

“obviously ⏳ is more attractive than🚪”

but all sizes and shapes of girls are cute

sweaters, flannels, boots and beanies are not seasonal, they are year-long clothing items for all weather. even if it’s 108 degrees and humid

handpicked boys to have a crush on

“these are the men i’m attracted to” (insert queer-coded fictional character with feminine characteristics)

“who do you have a crush on?” “no one” “aw are you embarrassed to tell us?” 😐

any man who has ever been nice to me i must have a crush on now. that’s the rules.

i think i like him but i have to convince myself really hard that i do and the second he reciprocates fondness i no longer like him. i’m probably just picky

“he’s sweet, he’s funny, his face is symmetrical, and he’s smart but not in a show-off way… why don’t i like him?”

“look at all these other girls being boy-crazy. SOO GLAD i’m not like that :P”

other gays/queer people feel free to add on (although this is primarily for sapphics (and aspecs))
